Markets wobble, looking for direction

Stocks are doing little on this semi-holiday for the markets.  Dow is down 6, advancers & decliners are equal & NAZ is up all of 1.  Bank stocks slid, taking the Financial Index lower.  The Alerian MLP Index remains hot, advancing another 1 to the 247s, new record territory!  Other indices are flattish.  Gold slipped pennies to 1344, remaining at its record levels.

Markets are hoping the Federal Reserve will start buying Treasuries to give markets a lift.  However, even if they do, this is not a cure-all for a recovery that is stumbling.  High unemployment & a dreary housing market are not going away soon.  Dow is struggling to stay above the important 11K level on this low volume day.
